Day 1: Subject pronouns, Object pronouns, and Adjective pronouns

Q: Do you know the difference between ˉsheˇ and ˉherˇ?

In this sentence, ˉsheˇ is used to represent Mary and ˉherˇ is also used to refer to what belongs to Mary.

Five Types of Personal Pronouns

There are 5 types of personal pronouns. If you know how to use a pronoun of a particular type, you should be able to use all other pronouns of the same type.  For example, if you know how to use ˉmyselfˇ, you should be able to use ˉyourself, yourselves, himself and herselfˇ correctly!

First Three Types of Pronouns

Here are the first three types of pronouns. We will talk about the other two types of pronouns later.

Subject pronouns are used to represent subject nouns in a sentence.

e.g. My mother is a good cook. She always cooks delicious food for us.

Object Pronouns are used to represent object nouns in a sentence.

e.g. We love our mother, yes, we love her.

Adjective Pronouns are used as adjectives and placed in front of nouns.

e.g. I like my little pussy, but not your black dog!

Here is the summary table of these three kinds of personal pronouns.
