Commands and Requests 命令和請求

If you want to report a command or a request, you need to change the verb to the infinitive form.

如果想轉述命令或者請求,需要把動詞轉換成動詞不定式。

e.g. Direct.     “Go out,” he said.

Report.    He told me to go out.

Direct.     The teacher said, “Don’t talk in class.”

Report.    The teacher told us not to talk in class.

Direct.     She said to him, “Please wait for me.”

Report.   She requested him to wait for her.

Direct.     The man said to Peter, “Bring me a cup of tea.”

Report.    The man asked Peter to bring him a cup of tea.

Direct.    He begged, “Don’t make any noise.”

Report.    He begged us not to make any noise.

 

Exclamations and Wishes 感歎句和祈使句

In reporting exclamations and wishes, we use ‘shouted’, ‘exclaimed’, ‘said’ or ‘wished’. ‘Shouted’, ‘exclaimed’, ‘said’ to introduce the reported speech, depending on the situation and the mood.  在轉述感歎句和祈使句的時候,我們可根據具體情況和語氣使用‘shouted’ , ‘exclaimed’ , ‘said’ or ‘wished’. ‘shouted’ , ‘exclaimed’ , ‘said’等動詞。

e.g. Direct.     The hunters said, “Hurrah! The tiger is dead.”

Report.    The hunters shouted that the tiger was dead.

Direct.     He said, “How clever my sister is!”

Report.   He said how clever his sister was.

Direct.     The man said, “Alas! I have lost my lovely dog.”

Report.       The man exclaimed that he had lost his lovely dog.
