Phrasal Verbs
If you work hard
enough, it is not difficult for you to master the use of prepositions.
However, sometimes the prepositions are not used alone, they form
prepositional phrases with nouns, adjectives and verbs.
We are going to focus on prepositional phrases with verbs called phrasal
verbs.

A phrasal verb is a combination of a verb and a preposition and this word group is used as a verb. The same verb combined with various prepositions can mean total different things. The only way to learn this well is to memorise the meaning. We have listed some phrasal verbs here. Study them by heart as you will find them really useful.
短語動詞是一個由動詞和介詞組成的組合,它們是被用作動詞的。同一個動詞,與不同的介詞組合就會有不同的意思。唯一一個去學好它們的方法就是牢記它們的意思。我們在下面列出了一些短語動詞。用心把它們記著啊! 因為你將會發現它們是非常有用的!

c) to believe in doing something : to think it is right to do something 相信某事是正確的
e.g.: I don’t believe in giving money to beggars; I think the government should help them.

through something that is intended to hold you back

come across : to meet
someone by chance (=
come upon) 偶遇;碰到
e.g.: We've just come across an old friend we haven't seen for ages.

deal with
a) to take action
in order to solve a problem 應付
e.g.: He knows how to deal with his business rivals.
b) to relate to something
與...有關; 論述,
涉及
e.g.: The book deals with this problem.
c) to do business with 交際,
打交道, (和...)來往
e.g.: He is easy to deal with.
7. a) complain of : to tell people you are suffering pain 抱怨;
e.g.
He complained of a headache.
b) complain about : be critical of, make a fuss about 投訴
e.g.: He complained to the waiter about the food.

look into
a) to see from
outside 向...的裏面看,

b) to
examine the facts about a problem or situation

look after : to take care of somebody or something 照看,

e.g.: Who will look after your father?

look for : to search for somebody or something
e.g.: They are looking for the missing child
