To uncover the secrets of Shakespeare, during the recent summer vacation a group of 15 talented students joined an adventurous trip, Shakespeare Encounter 2006, organised by i-Learner. We would love to share this memorable trip and precious learning experience with each and every one of you!
Shakespeare Encounter took place from 16 July to 1 August, 2006. Over the course of these 17 days, our participants stayed in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, the birthplace of the dramatist, and immersed themselves in the world of English and Shakespeare.
An important element in the trip was English language classes at Oxford House College, a prominent language school in a beautiful part of the Midlands. Together with other enthusiastic learners of English who had travelled there from all around the globe, our participants were exposed to an international community while enjoying significant progress in language learning.
Our participants learned about Shakespeare's work at the Shakespeare Institute and gained theatre experience with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in Stratford. We also visited Cambridge, Oxford and London during the trip. Two pre-trip workshops were held in Macau and Hong Kong and we are aiming to provide post-trip performance opportunities in the near future. Participants gained a basic knowledge of Shakespeare, and we hope that the portfolios of Shakespeare Encounter 2006 can serve as a cornerstone in further promoting among young learners in Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China the pleasure and excitement of learning about Shakespeare and his work. |
